El Paso, Texas – What began as a fight between two young men at a truck stop on Easter Sunday ended in tragedy when one of them lost his life. The heartbreaking incident took place early in the morning at a Petro Travel Center in Socorro, a suburb of El Paso, Texas.
The event has shocked the local community and left many searching for answers about what really happened that day.
Early Morning Fight Turns Fatal
According to reports from CDL Life, the fight happened on Sunday, April 20th, in the early hours of the morning. Police received a 911 call about a physical fight in progress at the truck stop.
When officers were on their way, several bystanders stepped in to try and help the victim, showing that even in dangerous situations, some people still try to do the right thing.
What Witnesses Saw at the Scene
The two men involved were both very young—one aged 18, and the other 20. Witnesses said the fight became more violent, and then something unexpected and horrifying happened.
People who were at the scene told police that Abraham Alvarado, the 20-year-old suspect, ran over the 18-year-old victim, Leonel Monarrez, using a gray SUV. The situation escalated so quickly that no one had time to stop it.
Unfortunately, despite efforts to save him, Monarrez died at the hospital. His death has left family, friends, and the local community devastated.
Suspect Charged with Murder
Following the incident, police investigated the case further. The suspect, Abraham Alvarado, has now been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond has been set at $650,000.
As per the law, Alvarado is still considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Investigators are continuing to gather more evidence and speak to additional witnesses.
