Washington, D.C. – In a surprising and widely talked-about moment, President Donald Trump referred to himself as the “fertilization president” during a Women’s History Month celebration held at the White House on Wednesday.
The event was organized to highlight the achievements of women and to officially announce the launch of the GOP Women’s Caucus, led by Rep. Kat Cammack. Several female Republican members of Congress were present during the event.
What Did Trump Say?
During his speech, Trump spoke about what he claimed were his accomplishments related to fertilization, although he did not clearly explain what those were.
“We’re gonna have tremendous goodies in the bag for women too,” Trump said.
“The women, between the fertilization and all the other things we’re talking about, it’s gonna be great.”
“Fertilization. I’m still very proud of it, I don’t care. I’ll be known as the fertilization president and that’s okay.”
He added with a smile:
“That’s not bad. I’ve been called much worse. Actually, I like it.”
The Internet Reacts
Soon after his remarks, social media platforms lit up with jokes, memes, and sarcastic reactions. The phrase “fertilization president” quickly became a trending topic on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, with many users poking fun at the bizarre statement.
Some joked about Trump taking credit for “every baby born” during his presidency, while others asked what exactly he meant by “fertilization” in this context.
Was He Referring to IVF or Fertility Treatments?
Though Trump didn’t directly mention in-vitro fertilization (IVF) or other fertility treatments, some believe his comments may have been related to recent political discussions about protecting access to IVF, especially after controversial court rulings in Alabama raised concerns among families and doctors.
Earlier this month, Trump had signaled support for protecting IVF rights after growing pressure from Republican voters and women’s health groups.
GOP Women’s Caucus Launched
The event also marked the beginning of a new Republican Women’s Caucus, which will focus on issues related to healthcare, family support, education, and women’s economic empowerment. Rep. Kat Cammack, who will lead the caucus, said the group aims to “amplify women’s voices in Congress.”
