Authorities in Florence County, South Carolina, have arrested two teenagers, including the victim’s girlfriend, in connection with the shooting death of 16-year-old Trey Wright. The incident occurred on the night of June 24, when deputies responded to a shooting on First Neck Road near Johnsonville.
The Tragic Shooting Incident
On the evening of June 24, Florence County deputies received a report of a shooting. Upon arriving at the scene, they found Trey Wright lying on the road with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead. Investigators immediately began working to identify the suspects responsible for the crime.
Arrest of Primary Suspect
Through their investigation, authorities identified 19-year-old Devan Raper as the primary suspect in the shooting. They allege that Raper shot Wright following a verbal dispute between the two. Investigators also found that Raper was in possession of a weapon during the crime. As a result, Raper was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Arrest of Accessory to the Crime
In a follow-up investigation, authorities arrested 17-year-old Gianna Kistenmacher, who was allegedly involved in the crime. Kistenmacher, who was reportedly Wright’s girlfriend, is accused of driving Raper to the crime scene, fully aware that he was armed and that a violent confrontation was likely to occur. Investigators charged her with accessory before the fact of a felony.
Alleged Dispute Over a Girl
Reports from WBTW-TV suggest that the fatal shooting may have been the result of an argument over a girl. It is said that Wright and Raper had a dispute related to Kistenmacher before the deadly encounter took place.
