WICHITA FALLS — The Wichita Falls Fire Department responded to a structure fire in Wichita Falls early Tuesday morning.
At 3:49 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, a structure fire was reported in the 2800 block of Holliday Road.
When the Wichita Falls Fire Department arrived on the scene, they discovered a seemingly empty house and worked quickly to extinguish the fire. They extinguished the majority of the fire in about 15 minutes.
Wichita Falls Police assisted with traffic control between Dodge and Speedway, while firefighters investigated.
Assistant Fire Marshal Jody Ashlock informed us that the WFFD had visited the same structure on three occasions. The floor in the back bedroom was completely burned through, and the attic area above the back room sustained significant fire damage. The owners have previously had issues with vagrants entering the property.
The house was being renovated, and the majority of the windows and doors were secured except for the back door, which was left open.
According to Ashlock, the structure’s fire damage is estimated to cost $15,000.
Officials say there are no injuries.
The cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated.
