The biggest Texas flag in the world measures a massive 100 feet by 150 feet and is proudly displayed at UT Austin during Longhorn football games. This gigantic flag is cared for by the Alpha Phi Omega chapter, a co-ed service organization at the university.
Whenever the flag is unfurled on the field, it serves as a powerful reminder of Texas pride and tradition.
Texas Loves Flying Flags—Big Ones!
Texans don’t just love their state flag—they take pride in flying massive American flags, too. Across the state, you can see enormous stars and stripes waving proudly, especially in cities like Longview and Tyler, where businesses and buildings showcase their patriotism with large flag displays.
Where to See Some of Texas’ Biggest Flags:
- Downtown Longview – The Vera Bank building flies both the American and Texas flags side by side.
- Loop 323 in Tyler – Several car dealerships display massive American flags, catching the eye of drivers.
- Rockwall, Texas – In September 2023, Rockwall installed a 190-foot flagpole at the highest point in the city, raising a 50 x 80-foot American flag as a symbol of patriotism.
Does Texas Have the Largest American Flag?
Surprisingly, Texas does NOT hold the record for the largest American flag in the U.S. That honor goes to a California resident, who owns a 500 x 225-foot flag weighing around 3,000 pounds, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
While everything is bigger in Texas, we’ll have to settle for having some of the biggest state flags and plenty of large American flags proudly displayed across the state.
