While Revealing They're Separated, Wife of Deported Migrant Influencer Who Encouraged Squatting in Americans' Homes Says She Regrets His Behavior in US

United States / VenezuelaVerónica Torres, the wife of controversial TikTok personality Leonel Moreno, has announced that she has left her husband shortly after his deportation to Venezuela by the Trump administration.

Moreno, who gained online fame for encouraging illegal migrants to squat in empty homes in the U.S., was removed from the country last week following a high-profile ICE arrest.

Now, Torres is making it clear: she’s done with Moreno, and she regrets his actions that landed him in trouble.

Torres: “I Hope He Learns From His Mistakes”

In a recent TikTok post, Torres said she hopes Moreno changes for the better.

“How sad to see how he could have been a better person and a good father,” she said in Spanish, as a video played showing Moreno stepping off the deportation flight.

She added,

“I wish you luck and hope you can improve as a person… and that all the hate you carry doesn’t affect our daughter.”

The Breakup: “Me and Leonel Are No Longer Together”

In another video, Torres confirmed that the couple had separated some time ago.

She addressed criticism from followers who claimed she was enjoying the fame that came with being associated with Moreno’s viral videos.

“I just want to be an ordinary person… I’m not interested in fame,” she explained. “Me and Leonel are no longer together.”

She also expressed frustration with people constantly asking her about her ex-husband’s whereabouts.

Who Is Leonel Moreno?

Leonel Moreno, also known on social media as Leito Oficial, became infamous in 2023–24 for using TikTok to mock U.S. laws, showing off government cash handouts, and encouraging other migrants to occupy abandoned houses.

One of his most viral lines was:

“I didn’t cross the Rio Grande to work like a slave,” while flashing $100 bills.

He also boasted about using his 1-year-old U.S.-born daughter for online engagement and publicly thanked “Papa Biden” for supporting his family with government benefits.

What Led to His Deportation?

Moreno illegally entered the U.S. in 2022 via the Texas border. After being released into the country, he failed to attend required check-ins with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

He was arrested in Gahanna, Ohio, in March 2024, and in October, a judge ordered his deportation. But due to U.S.-Venezuela diplomatic issues, deportation flights had been suspended.

That changed in January 2025, when President Donald Trump returned to office and brokered a deal with Venezuela’s Maduro regime to resume deportation flights.

Moreno was placed on one such flight last week. Reports say he had to be isolated from fellow deportees, who were upset at how he represented Venezuelan migrants.
