Whoopi Goldberg and Her Rarely Seen Daughter Will Make a Red Carpet Appearance at the 2025 Oscars

At the 97th Academy Awards, Whoopi Goldberg was joined by an unexpected date on the star-studded red carpet. The View host looked stunning alongside her rarely seen daughter, Alex Martin, as the two coordinated in chic outfits.

The 69-year-old looked stunning in a floor-length midnight blue gown with a structured silhouette and an off-the-shoulder neckline. The iridescent garment was made of metallic fabric and featured a cinched waist and a voluminous skirt.

Whoopi styled her dark hair into stylish braids, and her makeup was kept natural, with a glowing complexion enhanced by a pinch of blush and a dark berry lip. The star wore round-framed glasses and diamond-encrusted stud earrings, as well as a silver beaded necklace, to complete her look.

Whoopi is scheduled to present an award during the ceremony.

Meanwhile, the actress’s daughter looked exactly like her mother in a black leather gown with an asymmetrical neckline and a mini train for added drama. The sultry look featured lace-up detailing along the entire side of the dress and a thigh-high slit. Alex paired her look with a sparkly black bag with a circular handle top embellished with silver diamonds.

The 51-year-old slicked back her raven hair into a high ponytail, and her makeup exuded soft glam with a smokey dark eye, contoured cheek, and nude-staned lip. Alex finished her daring look with a pair of chandelier earrings and a fashionable bangle bracelet.

In May 1973, the Sister Act star welcomed her only child with her first husband, Alvin Martin. The couple divorced in 1979, but they maintain a close relationship with their daughter.

Alex now has three children of her own: two daughters, Amara and Jerzey, and a son, Mason, whom she shares with her husband Bernard Dean.

Whoopi has previously won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Ghost in 1991. The star chose timeless elegance in a Nolan Miller black sequin gown for the milestone occasion. The long-sleeved garment had voluminous shoulders and a straight neckline. Whoopi accessorized her signature look with a pearl necklace and matching pear-drop earrings.

During her acceptance speech, Whoopi stated, “I have wanted this since I was a kid…” My brother is sitting there, and he says, ‘Thank God we do not have to listen to anymore. “You can do it now.” “My mother is home, and everyone is watching.”
