Everyone in Shreveport and Bossier City is probably looking in the mirror and checking the scales now that this study has come out.
The Shreveport-Bossier metro area was included in a study of America’s most overweight cities. Sorry, Bossier City, but you are part of Shreveport’s study.
Shreveport Among Cities Most At Health Risk Due to Obesity
In a study of America’s most obese cities, Shreveport was ranked third worst for obesity-related health consequences such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.
Shreveport had the most adults with high blood pressure of any city in America, the second most adults with high cholesterol, and the fourth most obese adults in the city.
Shreveport Is The 3rd Most Overweight City in America
Overall Shreveport is the third most overweight city in America, not literally though. The study ranks cities on 3 categories for the overall ranking.
The three categories are:
- Obesity & Overweight
- Health Consequences
- Food & Fitness
Shreveport was ranked twelfth worst for obesity and overweight, which is based on the number of obese or overweight adults, teenagers, and children. Shreveport ranked fourteenth worst in food and fitness, based on the number of adults who self-reported healthy living as well as the number of local gyms and parks.
Overall, Shreveport was ranked as the third “fattest” city in America by WalletHub, owing to a high number of people suffering from the consequences of an obese or overweight lifestyle.
