Country music fans are talking, and it’s all about Parker McCollum. During his recent performance at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on Friday, March 21, McCollum didn’t just rock the stage—he had fans doing a double take. Why? Because many think he’s starting to look and act a lot like country music legend George Strait.
Not only did McCollum hint at a new album coming soon, but his entire look and vibe during the show reminded people of the “King of Country” himself.
The George Strait Look-Alike Moment
Parker McCollum posted photos from the Houston event, and fans couldn’t help but notice the strong resemblance to George Strait. He wore a striped button-up shirt with a few buttons open and jeans that had that same creased, slightly bunched look at the bottom—classic George Strait style.
The reaction online was quick and full of praise. One fan wrote, “I swear he is our new ‘George.’ Parker is gonna be around a long time.” Another replied, “Classy Parker is going to be the new George!”
Clearly, the crowd loves the idea of McCollum carrying on Strait’s legacy.
A True George Strait Fan
Parker McCollum has never hidden the fact that he’s a huge fan of George Strait. In an interview with CMT earlier this year, he said it’s not just George’s music that inspired him, but also the way he lives his life off-stage.
McCollum shared, “What influenced me as a kid and still does today more than George’s music is the way he carries himself behind the scenes—as a family man and a husband.”
This shows that Parker respects not only Strait’s career but also his character and values.
Working with a Legend
Parker McCollum’s admiration for George Strait has turned into a real-life connection. In 2024, he had the honour of opening for George Strait at a massive concert held at Texas A&M University’s Kyle Field, with over 110,000 fans in the audience.
Though Parker keeps it low-key, it’s clear the two have a growing friendship. They’ve even played golf together, and McCollum didn’t mind sharing that Strait beat him easily.
“I played nine holes of golf with George Strait a couple of weeks ago… He whooped our a–,” Parker laughed in a chat with PopCulture.
And that’s not all. McCollum was also chosen to help present the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award to George Strait at the 2024 CMA Awards, standing on stage alongside stars like Miranda Lambert and Lainey Wilson.
