Wichita Falls Woman Arrested for Allegedly Injuring Two-Day-Old Puppy

A Wichita Falls woman was arrested last week after she allegedly threw a two-day-old puppy, causing it serious injuries. Police say the incident happened during an argument with her ex-boyfriend and involved threats made while she was intoxicated.

Arrest Made After Police Respond to Disturbing Call

Kavia Vinson was arrested and charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals, a serious offense in Texas. She was booked into the Wichita County Jail on Friday, April 25, 2025, and later released the same day after posting a $50,000 bond.

The charge comes after officers responded to a call on the night of April 24 around 11:30 p.m., at a home on Texas Street in Wichita Falls.

What Police Found at the Scene

When police arrived, they found a woman crying and knocking on a door. The woman was later identified as Vinson. Officers said she appeared to be intoxicated and told them she had just had an argument with her ex-boyfriend.

When officers spoke with the man involved, he told them Vinson had demanded her phone back and threatened to harm his puppy if he didn’t return it. He claimed she then threw the two-day-old puppy toward the street.

According to police, the man’s shirt was covered in blood, which he said was from the puppy. Officers checked on the puppy and confirmed it was badly hurt and in poor condition at the time.

Charges and Legal Action

Vinson now faces a felony charge of cruelty to animals. In Texas, this type of charge is taken seriously, especially when it involves injury to a defenseless or young animal.

It’s unclear at this time whether more charges will be filed, or if any other legal actions will be taken depending on the puppy’s condition and the results of the investigation.
