For the second consecutive year, the City of Wichita Falls has been recognized for excellence in budgeting and financial reporting. The city earned multiple national awards for meeting high standards in financial transparency and planning.
Wichita Falls Receives Prestigious “Triple Crown” Award
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) awarded Wichita Falls the prestigious “Triple Crown”, an honor given to cities that demonstrate outstanding financial management. In fiscal year 2023, Wichita Falls received three major financial awards:
- Distinguished Budget Presentation Award – Recognizing high-quality budgeting processes and clear financial planning.
- Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting – Awarded for outstanding financial transparency and accountability.
- Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) Award – Acknowledging the ability to make financial reports accessible and understandable to the public.
Commitment to Financial Transparency
Wichita Falls Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Stephen Calvert attributed these awards to the city’s dedication to transparency and responsible financial planning.
“These awards are a reflection of our team’s commitment to clear communication, strong financial planning, and accountability,” Calvert stated.
What It Takes to Win
To earn these honors, each financial report was evaluated on its clarity, accuracy, and effectiveness in communicating financial data. A panel of judges reviewed each submission to ensure it met GFOA’s national criteria.
