Inflation is hitting Texans hard. If you’ve been to the grocery store lately, you know the prices are sky-high. In fact, just walking into a store could cost you an extra $20! It’s not a joke—prices are rising everywhere, and many people are struggling to keep up.
To help ease the burden, several states in the U.S. are offering inflation rebate checks to provide financial relief to residents. But the big question for many Texans is: Will Texas get these inflation rebate checks too?
Which States Are Offering Inflation Rebate Checks?
New York is leading the way by sending out its first-ever inflation rebate checks to its residents. 8.6 million people in New York will get up to $400 per family as part of the state’s effort to fight inflation. The total cost to the state for these payments will be around $3 billion. These payments are designed to help families cope with rising everyday costs, like food and gas.
But New York isn’t alone. Other states like California, Colorado, New Mexico, and Pennsylvania are also sending out inflation rebate checks or tax refunds in April 2025 to provide financial help.
Will Texans Get These Inflation Rebate Checks?
Unfortunately, Texans will not receive inflation rebate checks. While other states are sending these checks to help residents, Texas has chosen a different approach to assist people dealing with inflation.
What is Texas Doing to Help with Inflation?
Though Texas isn’t sending inflation rebate checks, it is offering some financial relief through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The IRA is providing tax credits and rebates for people who are making home energy improvements.
Two key programs will be available to Texans in Summer 2025:
- Home Efficiency Rebate (HOMES)
- Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate (HEAR)
These programs are designed to help Texans save money by improving their homes’ energy efficiency, which can reduce long-term costs. For more information, you can visit the Texas Comptroller’s website to check when these programs open.
