Woman With Warrants Apprehended After a Chase in Wichita Falls

A woman wanted on multiple warrants in Wise County was arrested in Wichita Falls, Texas, after leading police on a brief car chase through the city’s downtown area.

The incident happened on Monday, April 7, and ended with several charges against the suspect.

Who Was Arrested?

The woman arrested has been identified as Kelcee Danielle Derrick. She is now facing multiple charges in Wichita Falls, including:

  • Evading arrest
  • Evading arrest with a vehicle
  • Reckless driving
  • Unlawful carrying of a weapon

In addition, she has two active warrants in Wise County, including one for aggravated assault and another for evading arrest.

What Happened During the Chase?

According to Wichita Falls police, the chase began just before 11 a.m. when officers attempted a traffic stop near the 100 block of Indiana Avenue. Officers had already identified Derrick and confirmed she had a warrant for aggravated assault out of Wise County.

When officers activated their emergency lights, Derrick reportedly sped away, reaching speeds of up to 75 miles per hour in a part of downtown where the speed limit is typically 30 mph.

The police chase lasted about 90 seconds, but officers were instructed to end the pursuit due to public safety concerns in the busy downtown area.

How Was She Caught?

Although the chase was called off, officers located Derrick shortly afterward. She was reportedly attempting to return to her apartment when she was taken into custody.

Police say she was arrested without further incident.

What Are the Bond Amounts?

Derrick now faces a total of six charges between Wichita Falls and Wise County.

  • Wichita Falls charges: Bond set at $21,000 for evading arrest, reckless driving, and carrying a weapon.
  • Wise County charges: Bond set at $90,000 for aggravated assault and evading arrest.

She remains in custody at the time of reporting.
