New City Manager Will Be Appoint by the Wichita Falls City Council on Tuesday

Wichita Falls is preparing to welcome new leadership. According to the City Council agenda for Tuesday, April 1, Jeffery Jenkins is expected to be officially appointed as the new city manager.

The upcoming regular session will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the MPEC (Multi-Purpose Event Center). This appointment marks an important change in the city’s leadership and development direction.

Council’s Final Choice After Intense Deliberation

The decision follows an intense selection process. The seven-member Wichita Falls City Council held a special session on Tuesday, March 25, where they interviewed five finalists for the role. Discussions lasted over six and a half hours in an executive session, where council members reviewed qualifications and made their final decision.

Now, all signs point to Jenkins being the council’s top choice.

Who Is Jeffery Jenkins?

Jeffery Jenkins is no stranger to Wichita Falls. He’s a graduate of Midwestern State University, which gives him strong local ties. Currently, he serves as the Deputy City Manager of Taylor, Texas, a position he has held since 2017.

Jenkins brings a wide range of experience, having worked as either city manager or assistant city manager in multiple Texas and Oklahoma cities, including Henrietta.

Salary and Next Steps

If the appointment is approved, Mayor Tim Short will enter into contract negotiations with Jenkins. The proposed base salary is expected to be $278,000 annually.

This leadership transition is seen as a major moment for the city, as Wichita Falls continues to grow and take on new projects that require experienced, steady management.
