A quick-thinking car dealership employee in Texas may have helped take a dangerous criminal off the streets after accidentally discovering shocking content on a customer’s phone. Thanks to this employee’s alertness, authorities were able to arrest a man who was already on parole for serious crimes.
A Routine Car Deal Turned Into Something Unimaginable
Everything started when a car salesman was working with 60-year-old Robert May Jr. at a dealership. The two were in the middle of finalizing a car sale when May had trouble transferring some bank documents from his phone to the dealership’s system.
May asked the employee for help. The salesman agreed and took May’s phone to assist with the transfer, not expecting anything out of the ordinary.
However, when he opened the phone’s files, he found something horrifying — explicit images involving children.
Immediate Action by Dealership Staff and Police
The employee immediately informed the dealership’s management. Without wasting any time, they called the police. When officers arrived, they got permission to check May’s phone themselves.
After examining the phone, the police confirmed that it contained child pornography.
The officers acted quickly, and Robert May Jr. was arrested at the scene.
Shocking Criminal Past Revealed
Upon further investigation, police found that May was no stranger to serious crimes. He is already on parole until 2038 for two different cases of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
These past crimes date back to the late 1990s, making his recent actions even more alarming.
The Bryan Police Department officially charged May with Possession of Child Pornography. His bond has been set at $9,000.
