'Things did not go her way' Mom 'attempted to run over a group of elementary students' after they fled from a fight, authorities say

In a shocking and disturbing incident from Louisiana, USA, a 23-year-old mother, Lejonkica Sharp, has been arrested and charged with six counts of aggravated assault. Police say she not only brought children to a school to fight, but later tried to run over a group of elementary students with her car when things didn’t go as planned.

The Incident at Pine Grove Elementary School

According to a statement from the Shreveport Police Department, the incident happened around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, at Pine Grove Elementary School, located in northwest Louisiana.

Police said Sharp dropped off several children, including her own, at the school to fight other children. When the situation didn’t go her way, she drove her car toward a group of children in what authorities described as a deliberate attempt to hit them.

Another Parent Witnessed and Reported the Attack

Another parent, who was at the school during the incident, immediately called 911. The caller reported that Sharp arrived in her vehicle, let out children, and that these children then approached her own children to start a fight.

When the caller’s children tried to escape on foot, Sharp allegedly tried to run them over with her car.

Surveillance Footage Confirms Police Account

According to local news station KSLA, police reviewed the school’s surveillance footage shortly after the incident. Sharp later claimed that the other children had been throwing rocks at her car, but the video showed a different story, clearly capturing her trying to hit six children with her vehicle.

Police acted quickly. A patrol officer assigned to the school reviewed the evidence, identified Sharp as the suspect, and she was taken into custody on May 1.

Police Criticise Parental Behaviour

The Shreveport Police Department didn’t hold back. In a strong message posted on Facebook, they said:

“If you’re encouraging your kids to fight at school, you are the problem. If you think the solution to kid drama is vehicular assault — we’ve got a spot for you, and it’s not in the carpool line. Do better, parents. Seriously.”

The department also thanked the Caddo Parish School Board for helping them investigate the case quickly and effectively.
