An Oregon man has been convicted of second-degree murder, arson, and several other charges for the brutal killing of his roommate, Kaley Snow, in 2024. Bobby Alsup, 33, was found guilty of bludgeoning Snow to death with a hammer, then burning her body in an attempt to hide the evidence.
The Tragic Murder of Kaley Snow
Kaley Snow, 31, vanished after sending a chilling text to a friend, warning that her roommate, Bobby Alsup, might try to kill her. According to prosecutors, Alsup killed Snow after a secret romantic affair turned violent.
On March 17, 2024, Alsup allegedly struck Snow twice with a hammer, once on each side of her head, then attempted to cover up the crime by cleaning the crime scene and texting Snow’s phone to establish an alibi.
Snow’s Chilling Warning
In the weeks leading up to her death, Snow had texted a friend expressing fears about her safety. She wrote, “I think this dude staying here might try to kill me,” after Alsup moved into the property.
Snow had secretly been in a romantic relationship with Alsup, who was also living with his girlfriend at the time. As the affair unfolded, Alsup’s behavior became increasingly erratic, including selling Snow’s belongings online.
On March 12, 2024, just five days before her death, Snow texted Alsup asking, “Do you even still want it?” in reference to his living situation. She also noted that he was behind on rent, which seemed to further contribute to the growing tension between the two.
The Murder and Aftermath
After killing Snow, Alsup took steps to conceal the crime. He attempted to destroy evidence by dousing the hammer with a cleaning product and conducting internet searches to check on police investigations.
Just days later, on March 21, Alsup set a shed on the property on fire, using gasoline to destroy the body. Firefighters discovered Snow’s remains after extinguishing the blaze.
Investigative Breakthroughs
Prosecutors revealed that cellphone data, DNA evidence, and online searches led to Alsup’s arrest. Detectives tracked his movements and found his blood on clothing recovered from the scene.
In addition, Alsup’s digital DNA was found throughout the crime scene, confirming his involvement in the murder.
Despite Alsup’s defense attorney’s argument that he was merely trying to hide Snow’s body after finding her dead, the prosecution presented overwhelming evidence pointing to him as the killer.
Alsup’s Conviction and Sentencing
Bobby Alsup was convicted on charges of second-degree murder, arson, theft, abuse of a corpse, and unlawful use of a weapon. He faces a minimum sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years. Alsup is scheduled to be sentenced on March 25, 2026.
The Impact of Kaley Snow’s Death
Kaley Snow’s tragic death serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence, particularly when relationships turn toxic and manipulative. The case has sparked outrage in the local community, and Alsup’s conviction has brought some measure of justice to Snow’s grieving family.
